In January 2011, the CECT moved from the Research Building on the Burjassot - Paterna Campus of the University of Valencia, to its new facilities in the Scientific Parc of the University, located in the same Campus and at a distance of 10 Km from Valencia city.
In the Scientific Parc, the CECT is located on the ground floor of the 3 CUE building and it covers a surface area of around 725 m2. At present there are seven offices and nine full-equipped laboratories specifically dedicated to different tasks/techniques (molecular biology, chemotaxonomy, eukariotes, prokariotes, freeze-drying, media preparation, cleaning and sterilization, general microbiology and training). In addition, there are four cold chambers to store culture media, cultures that do not resist freeze-drying, samples/strains sent to the CECT for deposit or identification and freeze-dried ampoules. In a separated room there are three deep freezers at -80°C to keep cultures as complementary/alternative preservation system.
Regarding to the computer equipment, the CECT maintains several servers to house the web and associated databases, the electronic mail and shared files. Furthermore, CECT has a dedicated molecular biology server from which different programs for the manipulation and alignment of sequences and other data can be accessed. Automatic back-up copies of the servers data are periodically sent to remote back-up servers.
